I'm toying with the idea of adapting Swords & Wizardry for a Barsoom/Morgaine/Dark Sun 'Sword & Planet' kind of world, can't decide whether a Traveller/Mutant Future mix is better suited to Red Dwarf or Blake's 7... and think some form of Basic would be a good match for the current Robin Hood series.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4134750084087927747.post-19048250003762492752009-04-21T20:47:00.000-06:002009-04-21T20:47:00.000-06:00I think you could easily run a fun campaign in tha...I think you could easily run a fun campaign in that part of the timeline. I'll say the same thing here that I said there -- I actually think The Fantasy Trip would put an interesting spin on some of the canon D&D settings. It's hard to really say why, exactly, but it seems to me that the 1st edition gray box version of the Forgotten Realms would be a really nice match with TFT.

In fact, throw out the railroading, add TFT, and I think you could even redeem the War of the Lance era Dragonlance setting.

Sorry, I know, I know, I'm not supposed to say the "DL" word out loud in public. But I do think you'd get a more brutal and unforgiving, pulp sword and sorcery vibe out of each of these settings with TFT. With the Forgotten Realms, that would be a matter of emphasizing some flavor that's already there. With DL, it'd be more of a "re-imagining," and you'd end up with something a little more distant from the original.Superhero Necromancerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00829551945470884096noreply@blogger.com
