Stuart over at Robertson Games has a series of posts about taking OD&D/Swords & Wizardry attribute scores and making them descriptive instead of numeric.
I think it is brilliant and makes the low attribute modifiers really interesting.

Interesting thought. IIRC, the Marvel Superhero RPG was similar in that it named levels in particular feats/skills, but still had a random (dice system) element.

ReplyDeleteYeah, fudge, fate, PDQ, RISUS... all have something kinda like this but I never thought about how well it worked with the no-to-low attribute modifiers of OD&D. I think it is a pretty cool adaptation.
